Pseudo Reference Electrodes

Pseudo reference electrodes have variable potentials depending on the alkalinity of the concrete, temperature, availability of oxygen etc. Our MMO, Graphite and zine reference electrodes are pseudo reference electrodes.

MMO Reference Electrode

These are pseudo reference electrodes which can be used to monitor cathodic protection systems but the potential of the electrode is dependent on oxygen levels and pH in the concrete. Calibration certificates cannot be provided for these electrodes.

A data sheet can be found in the panel on the right of this page.

  • MMO Reference Electrode
  • Model : titanium rod with mixed metal oxide coating

MMO Reference Electrode

Element Type:

High purity titanium ASTM B348 Grade 1 with mixed metal oxide iridium based coatings

Potential:

Variable depending on the environment and pH dependent.

Dimensions:

75mm long x 6.35mm diameter
Measuring interface >850mm2

Cable:

2.5mm2 XLPE/XLPE

Expected Life:

More than 50 years. The function life of the electrode will most likely be determined by the life of the associated cables.

Graphite Electrode

These are pseudo reference electrodes which can be used to monitor cathodic protection systems but the potential is dependent on oxygen levels and pH in the concrete. Calibration certificates cannot be provided for these electrodes.

A data sheet can be found in the panel on the right of this page.

Graphite Electrode

Element Type:

High grade solid graphite

Potential:

Variable depending on oxygen and pH levels in the concrete and type of graphite. In standard concrete the potentials would normally be in the range -40mV to -130mV vs SCE

Dimensions:

100 mm long x 25mm diameter
Measuring interface >4500mm2

Cable:

Supplied to order

Expected life:

More than 50 years . The functional life of the electrode will most likely to be determined by the life of the associated cables.

Zinc Reference Electrode

These are pseudo reference electrodes which can be used to monitor cathodic protection systems in concrete and seawater but the potential of the electrode is dependent on oxygen levels and pH. Calibration certificates cannot be provided for these electrodes.

A data sheet can be found in the panel on the right of this page.

Zinc Reference Electrode

Element Type:

High purity zinc to US Military Spec. 18001 K

Potential:

Variable depending on the environment and corrosion reaction of the zinc.

Dimensions:

200mm long x 25mm diameter Measuring interface >11750mm2

Cable:

2.5mm2 XLPE/XLPE
2.5mm2 rubber sheathed

Expected life:

More than 50 years in seawater. The functional life of the electrode will most likely to be determined by the life of the associated cables.
